Scientific Nodes Committee (SNC) 2024-2026

We are pleased to announce the committee of seven scientific nodes for the years 2024-2026, consisting of two speakers from each node:

  • Development of Imaging Probes (DIP): Irena Pashkunova-Martic, Karsten Bamminger
"In my role as a speaker of the node 'Development of Imaging Probes (DIP)', I take this crucial and challenging position to provide a platform for the design of multimodal imaging probes connecting in turn researchers and their expertise on the development of future 'all-in-one-tool' for personalized diagnosis & treatment of cancer being the major objective of our common research." (IPM)

"‘With a passion for radiochemistry and the development of innovative radiotracers, I am dedicated to the further development of imaging probes in the DIP Node to drive progress in molecular imaging and enable precise diagnostics for better patient care." (KB)

  • Image Computing, Analysis and Visualisation (ICAV): Georg Langs (Radiology), Wolfgang Birkfellner (Medical Physics)

  • Image Guided Therapy and Theranostics (IGTT): Gerd Heilemann, Ivo Florian Rausch
"For proper medical imaging, the technology, the biology and the practical applications need to be understood. And this requires multi-disciplinary cooperation." (IFR)

  • Microscopy and Advanced Optical Imaging (MAOI): Wolfgang Drexler, Kareem Elsayad
“Translating novel multimodal optical imaging technologies.” (WD)

„Development and application of optical micro-spectroscopy techniques for biomedical research and towards translation.” (KE)

  • Preclinical Imaging (PI): Markus Mitterhauser, Thomas Wanek

  • Quantitative Clinical Imaging (QCI): Sazan Rasul (PET), Benjamin Spurny-Dworak (MR)
„As a Node Speaker for Quantitative Clinical Imaging on this platform, and as a representative of the Division of Nuclear Medicine at the Department of Biomedical Imaging and Image-guided Therapy, which hosts one of Central Europe’s leading PET centers, I look forward to collaborating with colleagues across medical disciplines to advance clinical insights and improve patient care.“ (SR)

"As a speaker for the QCI node, I am delighted to be working towards innovative and interdisciplinary collaboration in order to further develop state-of-the-art imaging techniques and advance our research at the highest level." (BSD)

  • Telemedicine (TM): Ursula Schmidt-Erfurth, Christina Hafner
"With telemedicine and modern imaging, we combine expertise and technology to enable faster, more precise and location-independent diagnoses." (CH)

Term: 10/2024 - 09/2026
